Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Mission and Ministry, the Assistant Director of Ministry serves the Mother McAuley community through development and coordination of initiatives to support student faith formation. A member of the Mission and Ministry team, the Assistant Director of Ministry will work collaboratively with the Director of Mission and Ministry, the Assistant Director of Mission Integration, and the Theology Division to assist in the pastoral care and formation of students, including oversight of student retreats and service initiatives. The Assistant Director of Ministry will teach two courses in the Theology Division.

The Assistant Director of Ministry must be a person of faith who models humble leadership, embraces possibility and innovation, delivers great outcomes, inspires joy and gratitude in others, and upholds the mission and philosophy of the school. This is a full-time, school-year position.

Develops a thorough knowledge and understanding of the mission of the Sisters of Mercy and the Mercy Education System of the Americas.

Essential Responsibilities:

Collaborates with the Director of Mission and Ministry, the Assistant Director of Mission Integration, and the Theology Division.

Meets regularly with the Mission and Ministry team.

Organizes daily PA prayer.

Develops and coordinates the student retreat program, including the First Year, Sophomore, and Junior retreats, as well as new retreat initiatives.

Assists in the selection and formation of student leaders and Peer Ministers to assist with retreats and other ministry experiences.

Creates opportunities for non-Theology faculty and staff involvement in retreats and other ministry experiences.

Designs and implements programming for student service experiences, including community engagement based on our Mercy mission.

Develops and implements a school-wide framework for Theological reflection on service experiences.

Coordinates school-sponsored service trips during the academic day.

Coordinates Summer Service Immersion Trips, including pre-trip preparation, student formation, trip logistics and necessary risk management.

Maintains student service hour database via MobileServe.

Maintains an updated listing of local service opportunities for students.

Establishes and develops relationships with community partners.

Collaborates on the planning and coordination of all-school liturgies and prayer services.

Encourages and fosters assembly participation in all-school liturgies and prayer services.

Assists with school wide initiatives, including First Year Empower, Mercy Week, and Catholic Schools Week.

Promotes diversity and inclusion on campus and within all Ministry initiatives.

Responds to crisis situations and provides pastoral care as needed.

Attend Ministry programs, events, and Theology Division meetings.

Teaches two classes in the Theology Division.

In-depth knowledge of the Catholic faith and the Mercy charism along with an appreciation and respect for diversity of faith and traditions.

Knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching and justice issues.

Knowledge of Catholic prayer and spirituality.

Skills in retreat planning and community building.

Knowledge of current trends in Theological pedagogy and the ministerial needs of high school students.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity with pastoral accompaniment.

Strong interpersonal skills along with effective oral and written communication skills.

Collaborate, build relationships and interact with internal and external community members.

Excellent public speaking and communication skills.

Manage long-term strategic projects and assignments while creatively planning and implementing new programs and initiatives.

Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks.

Highly motivated individual with positive energy who exhibits a high degree of professionalism.

Continuous engagement in professional, spiritual, and ministerial development and growth.

Professional attire is expected on a daily basis.

Qualifications:

Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s Degree preferred

Experience in Catholic education and ministry, including teaching, preferably in the high school setting

Preferred background in Catholic Identity and pastoral care. Experience working in an educational setting or working in a high school is preferred.

Demonstrated skill in organization and collaboration.

Experience in using computer software programs such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office and various aspects of related computer software and technological products.

Desire to work with diverse groups of people.

Minimum of three years of high school teaching and ministry experience.

Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.

Must have willingness to contribute to the overall mission of the school.
