AI in Catholic Education
AI, Human Dignity, and Catholic Education
Catholic schools are not called to respond to artificial intelligence with fear, hype, or passive adoption. They are called to discern how emerging technologies can serve the dignity of the human person, the formation of students, the vocation of teachers, and the common good.
In Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV reminds Catholic educators:
"Schools are not called to follow the pace of the digital world, but to offer that which the digital sphere by itself cannot provide, namely a shared time for learning and developing trustworthy relationships." — §147
For Catholic educators, the central question is not simply whether AI can make learning more efficient. The deeper question is whether our use of AI protects and strengthens the deeply human work of teaching, learning, formation, and relationship.
