Merry Christmas!
Christmas Scripture:
The angel said to the shepherds, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
(Luke 2: 10-14)
Christmas Prayer:
Loving Father of Jesus, help us to receive into our hearts the first words of the Christmas message that you gave to the angels: glory to you, and the gift of peace to us. May the birth of Jesus into our world bring peace to our world. May the birth of Jesus in our homes bring peace to our homes. May the birth of Jesus within our hearts bring peace to our hearts. Jesus as infant promises the gift of peace. 33 years later, when Jesus returns from the grave, his first words to his disciples, huddled in fear, are "Peace be with you." May the peace of Christ, which is his promised gift from the beginning to the end of his time on earth, abide in our hearts, home and world, in this new year. We ask this through the Prince of Peace, Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
