Easter Sunday - Sunday, April 20
Lord, our Lenten journey has led us to this beautiful moment: the feast of Your victory over sin and death! Alleluia, alleluia!
In Your rising today we catch a glimpse of the completeness You have awaiting for us in heaven because of Your glorious resurrection.
Throughout our Lenten prayer, we have also caught glimpses of that completeness in Your creation - light, sky, water, stars, plants, birds, fish, human beings, and the gift of rest. As we continue to encounter Your creation in our daily lives, let it remind us of the perfection and completeness towards which You are calling us.
Today we arrive with Your disciples at the empty tomb; let us not forget the journey that brought us here. A journey of deepening our relationship with You through prayer; a journey of practicing sacrifice through fasting; a journey of caring for our neighbors through almsgiving.
May this prayer, fasting, and almsgiving continue to bear fruit in our lives and the lives of others. And for our brothers and sisters for whom much of life feels like Lent, may we bring them the light and the joy of Your resurrection.
Help us to celebrate well the great triumph of Your rising in the days ahead, allowing the joy of Easter to linger in our hearts, not just today, but all the way to and through Pentecost.
