Fourth Week of Lent - Sunday, March 30th
Lord, we have arrived at the fourth week of Lent and Laetare Sunday. A day to remind us that joy can exist in the face of adversity and hope can exist in the face of suffering.
As the Letter of James compels us, let us “count it all joy.” Fill our hearts with rejoicing as we journey closer to Easter and our celebration of Your Resurrection. Fill our hearts with rejoicing, too, as we journey closer to our own perfection as revealed to us by the Genesis account of creation.
On the fifth day of creation, You made the creatures of the sea and sky, Lord. The Gospels recount that if You, O Lord, feed even the birds of the sky and know when a sparrow falls, how much more do You know and care for Your children.
Encourage us to turn our rejoicing into service of You, Lord, so that everyone, and especially those on the margins, may recognize the ways in which they are cared for and known by You as well.
We make this prayer through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
