Lenten Reflections 2025: Palm Sunday

Lenten Reflections 2025

Palm Sunday - Sunday, April 13

Lord, as we commemorate Your entrance into Jerusalem with Palm Sunday and move into these most holy days of the year, help us to remember what You did at the end of the seven days of creation and so many times throughout Your earthly pilgrimage: You rested. You rested early in the morning. You rested on the mountaintop. You rested in a boat on the sea. You rested at the well.

Not only did You rest, but the seventh day You blessed, making rest holy. May we give thanks for the sacredness of rest this week. May we praise You as we rest our feet with You washing them as a model of discipleship. May we praise You as we rest our backs acknowledging the weight of the Cross You carried for us. May we praise You as we rest our heads on Your chest like John at the Last Supper. May we praise You as we rest our hearts knowing the victory has already been won.

And as we praise You and rest in You, give us eyes to see and ears to hear the prayer, fasting, and almsgiving You are calling us to this week for our brothers and sisters. For even in Your rest, You are constantly holding us, sustaining us, and loving us.

We make this prayer through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
