Life in the City

We live in Denver: four pro sports teams, less than an hour from the slopes, 300+ sunny days a year, and we are close to Boulder. January weather could be 60 degrees one day or snowing the next. We’re not too close to any other ACE communities, but in the words of John Staud, “So is Hawaii but who complains about paradise!” There is always something to do, whether it be hitting up the nightlife downtown, catching a concert or a game, skiing the nearby slopes, or just walking around the city. Denver is also a fairly young city, and home to a fabulous Alumni Club that offers fun game watches!

Why did you say "yes" to serving children in Catholic schools through ACE?

I said yes to serving children in order to provide them the tools to be successful, whatever that may mean to them, and to grow as a person alongside them.

Why did you say "yes" to serving children in Catholic schools through ACE?

I said yes to ACE because I was drawn in by the authenticity of its mission. I wanted to help create a learning environment in which each child knows of the incredible love that God has for each one of them, only then will they be equipped to cultivate their minds and souls to their fullest potential.

If you had to pick just one word to describe your ACE experience so far, what would it be (and why)?

Gratitude; I am eternally grateful for my remarkable students and for those who have formed them inside and outside of school. I am grateful for my countless systems of support, my coworkers, and the unconditional love that flows from and within these communities.

If you had to pick just one word to describe your ACE experience so far, what would it be (and why)?

Persistence. You need to be persistent in ACE in order to be a great member of this program. You have to show up every single day for your students, community, and for your academics. You have to be persistent.

Why did you say "yes" to serving children in Catholic schools through ACE?

I am the person I am today because I am the product of Catholic education. I am grateful for the opportunities that I have been given and for the love and inclusion that I felt from my own Catholic school teachers, and I want to give my own students those same feelings.
