Oklahoma City
Life in the City
Welcome to the biggest small town in ACE! Oklahoma City has the character (and cowboy culture!) of a small town with all the adventure of the big city.
Life in OKC is full of basketball games, farmers market trips, pickleball, and rodeos! Our house is in a cozy neighborhood within walking distance from a Catholic church and the BEST pizza restaurant in the city! And we’re driving distance from lots of other ACE communities like Dallas, Tulsa, and Austin!

What is the one thing that you love most about your ACE school? Why?
The one thing that I love most about my ACE school is the cohesive and driven mission of the community. The teachers, students, parents, and entire school community are invested in the academic and spiritual growth of the students. Through the hardest days and the best ones, we support each other in our goal of making saints.

What is one of your favorite memories from your first year in ACE Teaching Fellows?
As an ACE teacher, I hope to grow in my appreciation for how Christ walked with His disciples. As I walk with my students, I hope to teach them about God and grow closer to Him myself too.

If you had to pick one word to describe your ACE experience thus far, what would it be? Why?
Transformative; Arriving in a new school, city, and state allowed me to better understand myself. During these times of reflection, I most definitely grew closer to God which allowed me to see His blessings in my community and school!

What is one of your favorite memories from your first year in ACE Teaching Fellows?
I love leading discussions with my seniors on the conflicts between ideas and characters in the book we are reading, such that they come to understand a deeper truth about love, freedom, or wisdom. Then, I've been able to tell them, "You've just been doing basic philosophy, you're ready for college!"

What are you most looking forward to most as an ACE teacher this year?
Learning from my students how to grow in my own character, humor, and love for the Lord.
