Pensacola
Life in the City
Welcome to Pensacola! A city where the beaches are filled with white sand, the large Naval base (which is located just a few miles down the road from St. John’s) brings the Blue Angels flying overhead, and the sunshine is seemingly endless. You can find ACE Pensacola down by the water, downtown in the historic district, or cheering on one of the local minor league teams. PensacolACE is a dream!

If you had to pick one word to describe your ACE experience thus far, what would it be? Why?
If I had to pick one word to describe my ACE experience thus far it would be growth. I grew as a teacher, a community member, and a daughter of Christ. ACE challenged me in ways I didn't even know I needed to be challenged and, although it was difficult, I am extremely thankful for it.

What is one of your favorite memories from your first year in ACE Teaching Fellows?
Each year, my school participates in a day of service called Make a Difference Day (MADD). It is wonderful to see the turnout for a service oriented event on a Saturday, a day when most students would sleep in! This last year, I helped out with one of the car washes on MADD that helped fund the event as a whole. It was a lot of fun to get to spend time with CHS students in a more relaxed environment, as well as get to meet the parents of some of my students who came to get their cars washed.

What is one of your favorite memories from your first year in ACE Teaching Fellows?
One of my favorite memories from my first year in ACE teaching fellows is going out to explore in Pensacola! I loved going to the beach with the white sand and the clear water. I went to the beach with friends as well as my community members. One beach day that was really fun in the spring towards the end of the school year was with a friend from out of town. My friend Katie and I ate food at a restaurant called Crabs on the beach! The food was delicious because we got seafood on the beach! Then, we got to swim in the clear blue ocean.

Why did you say "yes" to serving children in Catholic schools through ACE?
I said yes to serving as a Catholic school educator through ACE Teaching Fellows because I wanted to influence and transform the lives of young Catholic students in the same way that my Catholic school teachers did for me.
